Lexia: Core 5

  • Lexia core 5 is an adaptive blended learning program for students K-5 that accelerates the learning development of literacy skills for all students of all abilities.

  • Can be accessed on a web browser, an iPad or Android tablet, or installed locally on a computer in the classroom or at home.

Cost:

  • Lexia core 5 is $40 per student, up to 250 students.

Strengths:

  • Inclusive (grade level appropriate)

  • Keeps students engaged

  • In some districts they pay for the program 

Weaknesses:

  • Actual effectiveness is unknown

  • Not all students have home access

  • Lexia power up is an adaptive blended learning program for students 6-12 that accelerates the learning for literacy gain of students not meeting college or career ready standards

  • Can be accessed on a web browser, an iPad or Android tablet, or installed locally on a computer in the classroom or at home.

Cost:

  • Lexia core 5 is $40 per student, up to 250 students.

Strengths:

  • Keeps students engaged

  • In some districts they pay for the program 


Weaknesses:

DreamBox

  • DreamBox is 7000 per year, unlimited students. About $25 per student 

Strengths: 

  • Achievement gains

  • Adaptive lessons

  • Differentiated Instruction

  • Some districts pay for it 

Weaknesses:

  • Cost

  • Missing standards 

  • Not all students have home access

    I have never heard of any of the items you chose. I went on their websites, and they do seem a bit complicated to use. The weakness they share is that not all students may have access to them at home applies to all apps. Not all students have internet or computers at home. Also, they are all priced high; their market target is big school districts. They all look very interesting, I will watch more videos on them.
